Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised on the outskirts of Barcelona her music is described as an "atypical pop star" because of her genre-bending musical styles. In the wake of being fascinated by Spanish folk music as a child of 13she enrolled in musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while performing in bars and weddings.She graduated with honors by virtue of her cover album that she co-produced together with Raul Refree, Los Angeles (2017) as well as the Baccalaureate project El Mal Querer (2018). Combining flamenco, hip hop and pop music The album was followed by "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu mira (single). Both singles were a huge success and have received a hefty amount of critical acclaim. El Mal Querer, who was awarded the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time began her rise into the international music scene. The singer gave reggaeton a unique spin on her third album Motomami (2022) that departed from the brand new flamenco sound of its predecessor. Its singles "La Fama", and "Saoko" have caught the attention of international audiences and was the most reviewed album by Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten top one singles from her home country over her entire career. This is the highest number she has ever achieved for local artists. She also has won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year awards) Four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among others. Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the current music landscape through her flamenco-influenced pop"[18[18]. She was also the first Spanish-singing artist to win a nomination at the Grammys for Best New Artist.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born into a family of no artistic background, she is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who runs a small family company specialised in metalworks. Jose Manuel Vila, her father was born in Cudillero. They divorced in 2019. (23.) Rosalia's older sister Pilar Vila is born in 1989 is her stylist. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts at an early age, particularly following her discovery of the discography of Camaron de la Isla. At the Taller de Musics, she began her music education. She completed a six-year program at the academy. She studied at the Raval School and was later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she worked on her own as a singer for weddings, music bars, and other events. She received "a less than 80 euros or in exchange for a meal". In that period, Rosalia met many underground Spanish musicians who would later succeed such as La Zowi, Yung Beef, Kaydy Cain, Hinds and Maria Escarmiento.
