Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. She was born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut as Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress aged 11 years old, and was the 2nd youngest recipient of the award in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As as a young girl, she was awarded the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the talkative and inquisitive character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the prize. She won the role of Flora McGrath the daughter of a mute Scottish pianist who in the middle of 19th century, moves back to New Zealand for an arranged wedding when she answered an audition open to all at the age of nine. She was old and had almost no previous acting experience. Following her move into New Zealand, in the United States, she became an adolescent. Paquin had a small part in the role of Jane Eyre's title character while she was a child on Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as a lead part in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television film adaptation Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin also had a role of the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 feature film Amistad. The actress played teens in the films of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed the polexia Aphrodisa character on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
