April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of only a handful of female players of beach volleyball to be able to do so. Ross will compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, who is a first-time Olympian. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic medal. At 39 she could have her last shot. But she's convinced that the top awards are in reach. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, or even a good game and they are able to play well, the team can win a gold medal. Also, I'll take some chance. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running and track. She clearly was the top at the sport of indoor volleyball. As per her biography her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a the setter (outside blocker). Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as an 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross may have begun working together in the year 2017, however Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they came together. In reality, she was a winner of numerous major events with two different partners, among them a volleyball icon. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships of 2009. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they received the gold medal. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. Together, they won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college player for USC Trojans before her pro career. She was a player in high school, as well as some years before she hit the beach professionally. Her time at USC was a memorable one. When she was a freshman in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. She also helped the Trojans get to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. Through her last two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross was a USC international relations major, was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. In the aftermath, Ross remains close to her deceased parent. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
